5 Tips for a Nice Trip to Paris

My husband and I spent 5 unforgettable days in Paris along with my good friends and we loved our trip so much, that I wish to share a few tips which you may find very helpful.

1. Go by Eurostar rather than by airplane. Eurostar leaves St Pancras rail station which is situated in the centre of London, and  takes you right to the centre of Paris, so there is no need to waste 2 hours to get to your hotel from the terminal, then exactly the same story on return. Quite often the price of the ticket is pretty much similar  for train and airplane, but it will be  wise obtaining tickets in advance, specifically when you have to  apply for a French visa.

2. In my opinion it would be better to have a hotel close to the Eiffel Tower – we all went to the Eiffel Tower regulary and at different times of the day – it's a fantastic, warm, breathtaking sight and a real wonder at your feet! Also many sightseeing spots are situated within the walking distance. There are lots of hotels in this area and we stayed at a 3 star hotel and found it really good with regards to service, room size and breakfast.

3. Have a tour of the Eiffel Tower on the first day – we got to each level and explored it properly, and also took a walk downstairs using steps rather than lift – incredible experience, the views are fantastic!  You should certainly enjoy a panoramic view of Paris on every single level where the lift stops and it gives a wonderful idea of the places you might visit during your vacation, furthermore exciting views for taking pictures. We were pleasantly surprised to observe how compact Paris is, and you can in fact plan and do a lot on one day, because everything is pretty close, Paris is not as big as London.

4. Where to eat. Book a hotel with a buffet breakfast – we found the food in the three star hotel where we stayed pretty nice, and it was not the same menu all the time. I also liked eating out in the Galleries Lafayette – you will discover an excellent selection of cafes, so you can either get yourself  a meal or a snack.

5. In addition, ensure if you need a Schengen visa to travel to France. France is part of the Schengen agreement, and you might need to acquire a Schengen visa, which you need to obtain before your trip.
